A man arrested in Germany has appeared in court charged with the murder of a restaurant owner in Scotland more than 24 years ago.
Ansar Shah, 36, was stabbed to death in an Ayr seafront car park on October 4, 1993.
Jagtar Singh, 51, was transferred to Scotland following his arrest in Frankfurt earlier this month in connection with the death of Mr Shah.
Singh, of Romans-sur-Isere in France, appeared in private at Ayr Sheriff Court on Wednesday, where he was charged with murder.
He made no plea and was remanded in custody, the Crown Office confirmed.
The case was committed for further examination and he is expected to return to court next week.
